If you needed more proof that many of today’s college and university students have been ‘programmed’ to respond favorably to certain political ideologies, a newly-released video showing some students praising President Donald J. Trump’s tax reforms after being told they were devised by Marxist Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont provides additional proof.
As reported by Campus Reform, which sent a correspondent to The George Washington University to gauge student responses to Trump’s recently unveiled tax reform proposals, the Left immediately attacked the president’s plans.
“But what would those same people think if they were told that tax plan was actually Bernie Sanders’ tax plan?” the correspondent asks at the beginning of the video.
Initially, the correspondent asked students what they thought of Trump’s plan. One said he believed it was “better for the upper class” of American earners, while another male student said he thought it was “horrible for the middle class, especially the lower class.”
A female student said of Trump’s plan, “Not ideal,” while another said she didn’t think it was “beneficial” to the “general populous.”
Then, the correspondent began to question students about actual proposals that are contained in Trump’s plan — but he presented them as Sanders’ ideas.
The correspondent began by discussing Trumps’ proposal to increase child tax credits, which — when presented as Sanders’ plan — received high praise. (Related: Trump Tax Return “Bombshell” BACKFIRE… Trump Paid $38M In Taxes In 2005… MSNBC Becomes Comedy Central.)
“First, one of Bernie Sanders’ plans is to enhance the Child Tax Credit, which is tax money given back to families when they have children, what do you think of that — positive or negative?” he asked.
“Positive,” replied one female student. “Same,” said a female friend standing with her.
The female student who earlier said Trump’s plan wasn’t “ideal” approved of the tax credit when told it was Sanders’ idea. She further explained to the correspondent that she used to be a social worker, so she said she understands “how important tax credits like that are.”
“Parents that have children go through a lot,” another female student said. “I think giving back money sounds really good and in turn, helps the children.”
Yet another female student said of the tax credit, “I think that’s really great,” while several more students also found the idea to be a net “positive.”
The correspondent then asked students what they thought about Trump’s idea to eliminate the so-called “death tax” — a tax placed on the transfer of an estate worth about $5.4 million for individuals and $10.9 million for married couples.
“I think that’s definitely something we should be doing,” one of the female students questioned previously said.
Said another, “I think that’s a really good idea because I’m from New Jersey and they have like a really heavy inheritance tax.”
Other male students chimed in, each agreeing that getting rid of the tax was a “positive” thing.
Next, the correspondent told students that “Bernie” wanted to lower small business tax rates to no more than 25 percent.
As before, students questioned said they believe that idea was a “positive.”
“My family has a small business, so I definitely think that’s a positive thing,” one female said.
Another male student told the correspondent that “taxing” small businesses less “makes more sense.”
“Any way we can help small businesses work and, like, thrive, that’s beneficial for the country,” added another male student.
The correspondent then wrapped up his interviews by asking the same series of students whether, overall, “Bernie did a good job” with ‘his’ tax reform proposals. And as you might have imagined, the responses were all positive.
One female student even said, “It’s definitely better than whatever Trump is proposing…I would make that leap.”
“What if I told you this actually is Donald Trump’s plan?” asked the correspondent.
“You got me!” the female student responded.
But to the credit of the students who responded, many were pleasantly surprised by the fact that they agreed with much of the president’s tax plan, with one student even admitting that it’s hard to hear both sides of an issue from today’s biased news media.
