If you ever wondered if there would be real-world consequences for American society caused by Left-wing climate change hoaxers, here you go: Young people are increasingly shunning any effort at all to save for their retirement and old age because lunatic Democrats have convinced them the world is going to end in, like, 12 years.
As reported by Mac Slavo at SHTFPlan.com, however, there could be a silver lining: “…[I]f we apply that logic to everything, there is never a need to prepare for the future of anything and the liberal ideology crumbles upon itself.”
In a story on the issue, MarketWatch interviewed 27-year-old NYC communications professional Lori Rodriguez, who said she’s not saving for retirement because she does not believe it will matter much:
Like many people her age, Rodriguez has bought into the propaganda and religiously believes that climate change will have catastrophic effects on our planet. Some 88% of millennials (a higher percentage than any other age group) believe in the climate change religion and 69% say it will impact them in their lifetimes.
“I want to hope for the best and plan for a future that is stable and secure, but, when I look at current events and at the world we are predicting, I do not see how things could not be chaotic in 50 years,” Rodriguez told the news site. “The weather systems are already off, and I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to be a little apocalyptic.”
In the same story, MarketWatch appropriately notes further that mental health problems among America’s Millennials are also rising, and significantly so — especially over the past decade, a period of time that coincides with increased climate hysteria from the Left (which also coincided with Barack Obama becoming president).
A study published in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology in March found that young Americans aged 18-25 reporting symptoms of major depression skyrocketed 52 percent between 2005 and 2017. Meanwhile, older Americans did not experience any appreciable rise in their psychological stressors during the same period and, in fact, the figure declined in some age groups.
Author of the study, Jean Twenge, attributed much of the increase among Millennials to a dramatic increase in the use of social and digital media, so much so that it has impacted their social lives and communication.
Further, a 2018 report by the American Psychologial Association found that Millennials suffer from “eco-anxiety,” as nearly three-quarters (72 percent) said their emotional health is negatively impacted by what they view as the ‘inevitability’ of climate change. That compares with 57 percent — still a high number — of Americans over 45.
At the same time, as noted by the Pew Research Center, two-thirds of Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) have nothing at all saved for their retirement, according to the National Institute of Retirement Security.
Matt Fellowes, the CEO of United Income, an online retirement investment platform, told MarketWatch that most Millennials are not saving money because they currently cannot afford to do so. But he added that others feel they won’t have a future to save for anyway. This is horrendous. The minds of American youth have been so poisoned by the global warming/climate change alarmist liars on the Left they refuse to even consider that they’ll be around long enough to retire.
That means, of course, that entire generations of Americans will have to rely on another income means when they are too old to work — like the government, which, by the way, won’t be able to afford this massive new entitlement expectation.
Climate change hoaxers on the Left and throughout the Democrat Party are going to get exactly what they want in a couple generations: Full control over the lives of tens of millions of Americans who won’t have any means of taking care of themselves.
